West Long Branch, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - A.J. Astroth netted 14 points and grabbed six rebounds as the Towson Tigers outlasted the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils, 58-49, in a non-conference clash as part of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic.

Timajh Parker-Rivera chipped in with eight points and a team-best nine rebounds for Towson (2-1). The Tigers will play Bethune-Cookman Saturday as the tournament continues.

Matt Mobley and Khalen Cumberlander each scored 14 points to pace CCSU (0-3), while Brandon Peel registered a double-double with 10 points and 13 boards in the loss. The Blue Devils get tournament host Monmouth Saturday.

Towson held CCSU to 20 percent shooting and 15 total points in the first half, and took a 26-15 advantage into the intermission. The Tigers connected on 35.7 percent of their shots in the period.

That accuracy was nearly replicated in the second half, as the Tigers buried 38.5 percent of their attempts from the floor. The Blue Devils shot 43.3 percent in the frame, but only shaved two points off the Towson lead.

Towson held a 23-4 edge in bench scoring over CCSU, and a 34-18 advantage in points in the paint.
