Las Vegas, NV (SportsNetwork.com) - Jherrod Stiggers converted 7-of-9 behind the 3-point line and finished with 25 points as the Houston Cougars topped the Texas Tech Red Raiders, 82-69, during the championship round of the annual Las Vegas Classic at Orleans Arena.

Stiggers, who was 8-of-12 from the floor overall, also cleared seven rebounds, made four steals and handed out three assists for the Cougars (6-4) as they snapped a three-game slide. Also scoring in double figures for the Cougars were L.J. Rose with 16 points, to go along with eight assists, and Devonta Pollard with 12 points. Off the bench Eric Weary Jr. came within a rebound of a double-double as he tallied 11 points.

The Red Raiders (9-3), losers of two straight, were led by Devaugntah Williams with 21 points, followed by Randy Onwuasor and Robert Turner with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

The Cougars opened the meeting on a 20-6 run through the first seven minutes, shooting 51.7 percent from the floor, including 6-of-14 beyond the arc through 20 minutes overall, en route to a 41-34 advantage at the break.

In the second half it was more of the same as Houston converted 57.1 percent from the field and 7-of-10 on the perimeter as it picked up the double-digit win.

The Cougars connected on only 15-of-25 at the free-throw line but made up for it with an impressive 13-of-24 performance behind the 3-point line.
