Tennessee Volunteers VS. Texas A&M Aggies

Texas A&M (12-5) at Tennessee (12-5)

GAME NOTES: A pair of 12-win SEC teams clash on Saturday afternoon at Thompson-Boling Arena, as the Tennessee Volunteers play host to the Texas A&M Aggies.

An impressive 66-62 road win over South Carolina on this past Tuesday ran Tennessee's winning streak to three in a row. The Vols shot an impressive 57.5 percent from the floor and made 10 3-pointers to offset 18 turnovers.

Kevin Punter and Josh Richardson each tallied 13 points, Armani Moore chipped in with 11 points and Derek Reese added eight points and a team-high eight rebounds in the win.

The Vols are second in the SEC with a 4-1 record in conference action and are 12-5 overall. They are also the only team with three SEC road wins.

Richardson, who scored his 1,000th career point against South Carolina, leads the group with 15.7 ppg and he is also tops with both 58 assists and 36 steals, the latter helping to limit foes to only 62.1 ppg.

Punter chips in 10.4 ppg, while Moore, the leader on the glass more often than not, tops them in that department with 6.9 rpg and is third in scoring with 9.7 ppg.

Texas A&M also extended its winning streak to three on Wednesday with a 62-50 comeback victory over Missouri. The Aggies took control with a 22-2 run over an eight-minute span early in the second half. They trailed by seven prior to the spurt and led by 13 near the midway point.

Texas A&M owned a 37-24 edge on the glass, a 15-2 advantage in free throws and received 16 points apiece from Jalen Jones and Danuel House. Jones added a team-best nine rebounds, while Alex Caruso pitched in with 11 points.

Jones and House lead the way with 13.9 and 13.7 ppg, respectively, the former focusing his efforts in the paint in order to come up with a team-best 6.2 rpg and the latter hitting on a team-high 26 triples. Caruso (8.9 ppg) does some damage in the scoring department on his own, but he is just as valued as a playmaker with 93 assists in his 17 starts.

The defense allows just 61.9 ppg, a major reason the Aggies sit at 12-5 overall and 3-2 in league play.

This game will go a long way in determining which team can stay near the top of the SEC standings. Tennessee has won five of the eight all-time meetings, but Texas A&M swept the season series a year ago.

The Vols will get a bit of revenge in this one, but it will be tight throughout.

Predicted Outcome

Tennessee 71, Texas A&M 65
