Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Anthony Beane scored a career-high 32 points in helping the Southern Illinois Salukis post an 84-67 victory over the Tennessee State Tigers in a non-conference affair at the Gentry Center.

Sean O"Brien finished with 15 points and nine rebounds for SIU (1-1). Jordan Caroline and Jalen Pendleton had 11 points apiece and Bola Olaniyan grabbed 10 rebounds off the bench.

Jay Harris paced Tennessee State (1-1) with 23 points, while Charles Tucker had 16 points and six assists.

SIU was impressive from the outset, shooting 57.1 percent from the field in the first half to take a 46-26 lead into the break. The Tigers only shot 30 percent in the first period.

Despite an improvement to 50 percent shooting in the second half, Tennessee State could not make much of a dent in the deficit, as the Salukis drilled 22- of-28 attempts from the free-throw line.

SIU outscored the hosts, 31-11, from the charity stripe, while holding a 41-30 edge on the glass.
