Recap: Temple vs. Bucknell
Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Will Cummings scored a game-high 30 points and pulled down seven rebounds as the Temple Owls slipped by the Bucknell Bison, 73-67, in the first round of the NIT at the Liacouras Center.
Cummings made all nine of his attempts at the free-throw line and was also 3- of-4 beyond the arc for the Owls (24-10), who will now face George Washington in the second round of the tourney.
Also scoring in double figures for the hosts were Quenton DeCosey and Josh Brown with 13 and 11 points, respectively, the former accounting for seven rebounds and five assists as well.
The Bison (19-15) were led by Chris Haas with 15 points, while Nana Foulland registered a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 10 boards. Off the bench, J.C. Show logged another 13 points in just 18 minutes of action, while starter Ryan Frazier pitched in with 10 points.
Temple shot only 38.7 percent from the floor in the first half, a mere 4-of-14 behind the 3-point line, yet still managed to lock up the score at the break, 35-35.
In the second half it was Bucknell that struggled from the field, hitting on just 26.3 percent, allowing the Owls to take control and pull away for the win.
In addition to outscoring the Bison at the free-throw line by a 21-10 margin, Temple also suffered only five turnovers on the night.
