New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Jameel Warney tallied 18 points and nine rebounds as the Stony Brook Seawolves coasted to a 73-54 decision over the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds in the NIT Season Tip-Off at Madison Square Garden.

Rayshaun McGrew recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards for Stony Brook (4-2), while Roland Nyama also made a big impact with 16 points and eight rebounds. Carson Puriefoy added 10 points in 20 minutes of action for the Seawolves.

Joel Hernandez came off the bench to pace the Blackbirds (0-3) with 15 points, but also committed four of the team's 14 turnovers.

Stony Brook managed to build a 13-point lead by the 7:25 mark of the first half, but LIU Brooklyn battled to narrow the deficit to 36-31 by halftime. Both sides scored 20 points in the paint before the break. The Blackbirds were limited to 1-of-11 efficiency from 3-point range in the opening stanza.

The Seawolves scored 12 consecutive points to start the second half and put the game out of reach. Warney made all four of his field goal attempts after the intermission, while Stony Brook shot 57.1 percent from the floor in the second period as a unit. The Blackbirds connected on only 7-of-26 field goal tries over the final 20 minutes of the contest.

The Seawolves dominated the glass, finishing with a 40-22 edge in total rebounds.
