Stanford, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcus Allen hit on 10-of-12 shooting for 22 points to lead the second-seeded Stanford Cardinal past the seventh-seeded UC Davis Aggies, 77-64, in the opening round of the National Invitation Tournament at Maples Pavilion.

Chasson Randle contributed 18 points with five assists, and Anthony Brown netted 11 with five rebounds for Stanford (20-13), which advances to the second round of the NIT to take on the Rhode Island Rams. Reid Travis came off the bench to tally a double-double in the win with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Corey Hawkins scored a game-high 34 points and pulled down five rebounds to lead UC Davis (25-7). J.T. Adenrele chipped in with seven points and six boards in the loss.

Stanford was hot in the first half, as the Cardinal finished the opening frame netting 53.8 percent of their shots, including 4-of-8 from 3-point range. Stanford took a narrow 37-36 lead into the intermission after UC Davis made 42.9 percent of its attempts, including 5-of-12 from distance.

The Cardinal improved to 58.6 percent shooting in the second half, while the Aggies dipped down to 32.3 percent from the floor. The window allowed Stanford to gain an advantage that reached as many as 17 points with around five minutes to play.

Stanford held a 40-24 advantage in points in the paint, and used a 38-25 rebounding edge to dominate the Aggies down low in the win.
