Recap: St Johns vs. Fair-Dickinson
Queens, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - D'Angelo Harrison dropped 26 points and No. 24 St. John's toppled Fairleigh Dickinson 74-52 on Wednesday.
Harrison shot 8-for-14 from the floor and sank all eight of his free throws for the Red Storm (7-1), winners in three straight following their lone loss of the season to Gonzaga.
Phil Greene IV added 16 points and Chris Obekpa had a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double while also providing his usual rim protection with six blocks.
Obekpa has blocked at least two shots in every game this season.
Mustafaa Jones led the Knights (3-5) with 18 points.
Four different players scored in the opening segment for St. John's, which led 8-4 at the first media timeout and never trailed in the contest.
Harrison's jumper at 14:18 made it a seven-point game, and Greene's triple five minutes later extended the spread to 22-12.
It was 39-25 at halftime.
Sir'Dominic Pointer's dunk at 12:30 gave the Red Storm a 51-34 lead, but consecutive 3-pointers out of a timeout by Jones and Matt MacDonald had FDU within 11.
It was down to 10 when Harrison made four straight free throws and Obekpa added a tip-in to keep the Knights at arm's length.
