St. Bonaventure Bonnies VS. Dayton Flyers

Dayton (11-2) at St. Bonaventure (8-4)

GAME NOTES: The Dayton Flyers seek their fifth straight win on Thursday night, as the challenge the Bonnies of St. Bonaventure in Atlantic 10 Conference action at the Reilly Center.

Dayton has suffered just two setbacks through the first 13 outings, bowing to Connecticut (75-64) and Arkansas (69-55). Since the loss to the Razorbacks on Dec. 13, the Flyers have rattled off four straight victories, the most recent being an 81-55 thrashing of Duquesne in the conference opener last Saturday.

As for the Bonnies, they too got off on the right foot in conference play as well with a 69-55 win against Massachusetts on the road last weekend. The victory snapped a brief two-game losing streak, but was also just the second since the first week of December.

Dayton leads the all-time series by a count of 17-9, thanks to nine wins in the last 10 encounters. Last season, the Flyers slipped by with a 72-69 victory at the Reilly Center. The most recent win for the Bonnies was an 81-73 final back in 2012.

The Flyers dominated the meeting with Duquesne, holding the visitors to just 34.4 percent shooting from the floor, including 5-of-24 behind the 3-point line, en route to the 26-point home win. All five starters scored in double figures for Dayton, beginning with Kyle Davis who tallied a game-high 17 points, followed by Dyshawn Pierre, Scoochie Smith and Jordan Sibert with 16 points apiece and Kendall Pollard 13 for a squad that converted 56.6 percent accuracy from the floor.

The Flyers are one of the stronger defensive squads in the A-10, allowing opponents to generate only 59.8 ppg on 30.5 percent shooting behind the 3- point line. Sibert paces the squad on offense with 15.7 ppg, but he has been converting just 40.1 percent of his field goal tries and 30.6 percent out on the perimeter. Pierre and Pollard account for 11.8 and 10.3 ppg, respectively, as the program outscores the competition by 8.2 ppg.

Like the Flyers, the last game for St. Bonaventure also saw the team easily handle UMass in the first half, permitting the Minutemen just 19 points on 1- of-10 shooting behind the 3-point line. Overall, the Bonnies limited the hosts to just 35.2 percent from the floor and 4-of-22 out on the perimeter.

Offensively, the Bonnies leaned on Youssou Ndoye and his double-double consisting of 14 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, adding three blocked shots to his stat line. Marcus Posley dropped in a game-high 16 points, Jaylen Adams 14 and Andell Cumberbatch 12 points in the triumph.

The Bonnies feature five double-digit scorers, with Posley leading the charge with 17.6 ppg and Dion Wright checking in at 12.9 ppg. Adams pitches in with 12.0 ppg, thanks to his 41.7 percent shooting beyond the arc, followed by Cumberbatch and Ndoye with 10.9 ppg each. Ndoye's efforts in the paint have resulted in 11.5 rpg and 33 blocked shots.

The Bonnies may be at home for this meeting, but by no means does that indicate a win waiting to happen for the hosts. With the scoring punch that the Flyers bring to every outing, as well as a solid defense, Dayton should be in line for another victory.
