St. Bonaventure Bonnies

St. Bonaventure Bonnies VS. Buffalo Bulls

Buffalo (4-1) at St. Bonaventure (4-1)

GAME NOTES: With each team on a three-game win streak, the Buffalo Bulls and St. Bonaventure Bonnies will clash head-to-head in a non-conference battle at the Reilly Center on Wednesday.

Buffalo has won three games in a row, which includes a 72-57 victory over Canisius in the team's most recent outing on Saturday. The Bulls had a game at home against Montana State postponed due to inclement weather.

St. Bonaventure has also won three in a row, with a 74-59 victory over Niagara in the Big 4 Classic serving as the most recent contest. The Bonnies have only dropped one game this season - a close 73-70 defeat at the hands of Siena.

St. Bonaventure leads the all-time series against intrastate rival Buffalo, 6-2. The most recent game played between the sides took place back in 1995, which the Bonnies won, 74-64.

Buffalo took a stand defensively in the first half against Canisius in the team's last outing, and held the Golden Griffins to just 19 points on 24.2 percent shooting. That advantage allowed the Bulls to coast through the second half en route to a 15-point victory. Justin Moss recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Bulls, who were led in scoring in the game by freshman Lamonte Bearden's 23 points. Rodell Wigginton came off the bench to contribute 12 points with seven rebounds.

The Bulls have been stellar so far in replacing All-MAC star Javon McCrea. Moss, a junior forward, leads the team in both scoring (17.6 ppg) and rebounding (9.2 rpg) this season through five games. Shannon Evans checks in with a 14.2 ppg average, followed by Bearden's 11.0 ppg mark. Jarryn Skeete rounds out the group of four players in double-digit scoring with 10.0 ppg. As a unit this season, the Bulls are scoring 69.4 ppg and are giving up 65.4 ppg to opponents.

St. Bonaventure gained a 10-point lead over Niagara at the half in the Bonnies' last outing, and the team never looked back en route to the 15-point win. St. Bonaventure was able to capture the decisive win despite shooting just 25 percent from 3-point range (3-of-13). Youssou Ndoye notched a double- double for the Bonnies, leading the team with 23 points and 11 rebounds, adding in five blocked shots. Andell Cumberbatch contributed 16 points in the win, while Dion Wright scored 14 points to round out the double-digit scorers.

Marcus Posley, who had just six points in the team's win over Niagara, still paces St. Bonaventure in scoring this season, entering the clash with Buffalo averaging 15.6 ppg. Cumberbatch is close behind at 14.0 ppg, and Wright is third on the squad netting 12.6 ppg. Jaylen Adams (11.2 ppg) and Ndoye (10.5 ppg) are the team's other scorers in double figures. Ndoye leads the Bonnies with a 10.3 rpg mark, while Wright (8.8 rpg) and Cumberbatch (7.0 rpg) have also proven to be strong contributors on the glass.

Buffalo has already exceeded some early season expectations after losing several key members of its 2013-14 squad. St. Bonaventure is a very strong team, especially at home, so the Bulls will be put to the test in this one.
