Niceville, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Trae Anderson shot 5-of-7 off the bench en route to a game-high 16 points and six rebounds for the Eastern Illinois Panthers, who notched a 54-43 win over Southern University in fourth-round action of the Emerald Coast Classic at The Arena.

Dylan Chatman contributed 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, to help the Panthers (2-5) notch their first win of the season over a Division I opponent.

Jared Sam led the way with 13 points in 22 minutes off the bench for the Jaguars (1-6), who suffered their fourth straight loss. Sam was the team's only player in double figures.

EIU knocked down 5-of-9 3-pointers in the first half and shot 58 percent from the floor to jump out to a 32-14 halftime lead. Southern was just 6-of-22 (.273) from the field in the opening half.

The Panthers put the game away with a 58-percent shooting effort in the second stanza while Southern continued to struggle offensively (.360).

EIU committed 18 turnovers for the game but made up for it with a collective 8-of-15 effort from the perimeter (.533), while the Jaguars connected on only 2-of-10 attempts (.200) from distance.
