Hattiesburg, MS (SportsNetwork.com) - Hassan Martin led the way with 15 points as the Rhode Island Rams downed the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, 75-43, in a non-conference bout at Reed Green Coliseum.

Jared Terrell added 12 points for the Rams (5-2), while Jarvis Garrett and Earl Watson both pitched in with nine in the victory.

Shadell Millinghaus led the Golden Eagles (4-3) with 13 points and six rebounds, while Matt Bingaya finished with 11 points.

The Rams took a commanding lead at the break, 35-17, as they connected on a healthy 53.3 percent of their field goal attempts in the half. The Golden Eagles struggled from the floor, hitting on only 35.3 percent of their field goal tries, including 3-of-8 from beyond the arc. Rhode Island opened the game on a 14-5 run and kept the pressure on throughout the period, going up by as many as 21 points.

After the break Rhode Island upped its game, knocking down 59.1 percent of its shots from the field, including an impressive 6-of-11 beyond the arc. Southern Miss could only muster a 42.9 percent shooting performance from the field in the second half and missed all seven of its tries from 3- point distance.

The Rams outscored the USM in the paint, 36-24. Rhode Island also forced 23 turnovers and converted them into 22 points.
