Hattiesburg, MS (SportsNetwork.com) - Matt Bingaya scored 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting to lead the Southern Miss Golden Eagles to a 78-65 victory over the North Dakota State Bison in a non-conference tilt at Reed Green Coliseum.

Chip Armelin netted 14 points for Southern Miss (4-2), while Rasham Suarez added 13 points with five rebounds and six assists. Shadell Millinghaus scored 11, and Norville Carey added 10 with five boards in the win.

Lawrence Alexander tallied 23 points to lead all scorers in the game for North Dakota State (4-3). Carlin Dupree chipped in with 16 points, and Dexter Werner contributed 13 points with eight rebounds.

Southern Miss shot an incredible 65.2 percent from the floor in the opening half, which helped the home squad take a 39-21 lead into the midway break. NDSU connected on 33.3 percent of its shot tries in the frame.

The Golden Eagles didn't even slow down in the second half, hitting 63.6 percent of their attempts, including 4-of-8 from 3-point distance. The Bison increased their shooting accuracy to 56.7 percent from the field, but only shaved five points off the Southern Miss lead.

The Golden Eagles held a 41-30 advantage in points in the paint, and a 22-16 edge in bench scoring.
