Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Ruben Guerrero scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the South Florida Bulls over the East Carolina Pirates, 58-50, in American Athletic Conference action at the Sun Dome.

For the Bulls (7-8,1-1 AAC), Corey Allen Jr. added 12 points, Chris Perry scored 10 and Anthony Collins dished out seven assists.

B.J. Tyson paced the Pirates (7-8, 0-2) with a game-high 16 points, while Terry Whisnant chipped in with 11 points.

East Carolina took a narrow 27-25 lead into intermission, though the Pirates hit on just 37 percent of their field goal attempts in the first half, including 3-of-9 from 3-point range. The Bulls were little better from the field, shooting 37.9 percent, but that included missing all but one of their 11 tries from beyond the arc.

In the second half, the Bulls connected on 50 percent of their field goal tries, including 2-of-8 from beyond the arc. The Pirates continued to struggle with their shooting after the break, making just 33.3 percent of their shots from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point distance. Trailing by two, 44-42, with under eight minutes to play, the Bulls used a 12-0 run to take control and walk away with the home victory.

The Bulls dominated the scoring down low, finishing with a 32-18 edge in points in the paint. South Florida also had the advantage on the boards, outrebounding East Carolina, 37-32.
