Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Nic Moore scored 28 points and dished out six assists as the SMU Mustangs defeated the Houston Cougars, 80-59, in an American Athletic Conference battle at Moody Coliseum.

Yanick Moreira added 14 points and nine rebounds for the Mustangs (16-4, 7-1 AAC). Sterling Brown contributed 11 points, nine rebounds and seven assists while Ben Moore chipped in with 10 rebounds as SMU's win streak stretched to six in a row.

As for the Cougars (7-12, 0-8), Jherrod Stiggers scored 25 points and Danrad Knowles added 10, while L.J. Rose chipped in with a season-high 10 assists during the squad's eight consecutive loss.

The Cougars shot 34.6 percent from the field and connected on 4-of-14 shots from beyond the arc in the first half. The Mustangs outrebounded Houston 26-12 in the frame and used a 16-2 run to take a 37-29 lead at the break.

In the second half Houston shot just 35.7 percent from the field, while SMU converted an impressive 62.5 percent from the field, including 9-of-13 from 3- point range as the Mustangs cruised to the win.

Moore tied an SMU single-game record for 3-pointers with eight, the team hitting on 11-of-20 on the perimeter overall.
