Recap: Seton Hall vs. Saint Peters
Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandon Mobley scored a game-high 21 points as the Seton Hall Pirates dismissed the Saint Peter's Peacocks, 67-52, in non- conference action at the Prudential Center.
Mobley, who converted 8-of-13 shots from the floor, added seven rebounds and three blocked shots for the Pirates (8-1) as they bounced back from their first loss of the season against nationally-ranked Wichita State on Tuesday. Also scoring in double figures for the hosts was Sterling Gibbs with 12 points, while Angel Delgado pitched in with seven points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Peacocks (4-7) were paced by Desi Washington with 13 points, followed by Elias Desport and Tyler Gaskins with 12 and 11 points, respectively, as they had a two-game win streak come to an end.
Mobley led the way for Seton Hall in the first half with 15 points in 16 minutes of action, the team as a whole shooting 48.4 percent from the floor in order to claim a 39-27 advantage at the break.
In the second half the Pirates made a total of only eight field goals, one behind Saint Peter's, but the visitors gambled a bit too much beyond the arc (1-of-7) and that prevented them from making a serious push for a comeback.
The Peacocks were hampered by 36.5 percent shooting from the floor on the afternoon, which included 2-of-12 accuracy out on the perimeter.
