Santa Clara, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandon Clark erupted for a game-high 31 points and pulled down seven rebounds as the Santa Clara Broncos defeated the Cal State Fullerton Titans, 89-72, in a non-conference battle at the Leavey Center.

Clark converted 7-of-17 from the field and missed just one of his 16 attempts at the free-throw line as the Broncos (1-0) controlled the action for almost the entire game. Also scoring in double figures for Santa Clara were Denzel Johnson and Matt Hubbard with 15 and 11 points, respectively.

The Titans (0-1) were paced by Lanerryl Johnson who tallied 19 points off the bench, followed by Moses Morgan with 16 points, although the latter shot just 5-of-17 from the floor. Alex Harris and Joe Boyd both pitched in with 12 points in the loss.

Fullerton led by a single point early in the first half, but the team ended up shooting a dreadful 5-of-23 from the field, including 2-of-10 behind the 3- point line in the first half, en route to a 40-22 deficit at the break.

The Titans improved their shooting in the second half, converting 17 of their 35 field goal tries, but the Broncos maintained their advantage throughout thanks to a 21-of-24 showing at the free-throw line after the intermission.

Santa Clara turned the ball over just eight times and managed to make good on a sizzling 11-of-16 beyond the arc on the night.
