Recap: San Jose St vs. UNLV
San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Christian Wood posted a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds as the UNLV Runnin' Rebels easily handled the San Jose State Spartans, 71-58, in the Mountain West Conference regular season finale for both programs.
Jelan Kendrick tallied a game-high 21 points for the Runnin' Rebels (17-14, 8-10 MWC), adding seven boards and six assists, while Dwayne Morgan and Jordan Cornish contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively, as the team won for the second time in the last three outings.
The Spartans (2-28, 0-18), losers of a staggering 20 consecutive outings, were led by Jaleel Williams with 18 points, although he shot just 6-of-17 from the floor. Rashad Muhammad added 16 points and eight rebounds, followed by Darryl Gaynor II with 14 points and five assists.
SJSU led momentarily in the first half, but the team made a total of just nine field goals in the period, en route to a 31-24 deficit at the break.
After converting 44.4 percent from the floor through the first 20 minutes, UNLV dialed up the effort in the second half with a sizzling 63.6 percent, cruising to the double-digit win in the process.
The Spartans finished the game shooting only 37.9 percent from the floor and failed to get a single point from the reserves.
