San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - John Gillon netted 14 points and made all four of his free-throw attempts as his Colorado State Rams demolished the San Jose State Spartans, 70-41, in a Mountain West Conference battle at The Event Center.

J.J. Avila tallied a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds for Colorado State (17-2, 4-2 MWC), while Joe De Ciman added 12 points and seven rebounds of his own. The Rams have been victorious in each of their last three games.

Rashad Muhammad scored 12 points to lead San Jose State (2-16, 0-6), which has lost eight straight decisions. Isaac Thornton contributed 11 points and five rebounds in the losing effort.

Colorado State buried 40.7 percent of its first-half field goal tries to take a 34-22 lead into the intermission. San Jose State shot a woeful 17.4 percent from the floor in the frame, but did make 12-of-15 from the free-throw line.

The Rams pretty much stayed pat in the second half, as they made 40 percent of their attempts, adding in 13-of-19 from the charity stripe. The Spartans could only improve to 24 percent shooting in the period, which included a 2-of-14 mark from 3-point range, as they continued to fall way behind.

Colorado State outscored San Jose State in the paint, 28-10, and owned a huge advantage on the glass in the win, 46-27.
