Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Anthony Drmic finished with 21 points and nine rebounds as the Boise State Broncos held on for an 81-75 win over the San Diego Toreros in a non-conference season opener for both sides as part of the LMU Classic at Gersten Pavilion.

David Wacker and Mikey Thompson chipped in 12 points apiece for the Broncos (1-0). Montigo Alford and Rob Heyer came off the bench to net 10 points each for Boise State.

Johnny Dee led the Toreros (0-1) with 25 points, while Chris Anderson tallied 14 points, seven assists and four boards. Thomas Jacobs added 10 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

The Broncos converted 15-of-20 attempts at the free-throw line in the opening 20 minutes of the contest en route to a 35-33 halftime lead. USD trailed at the break despite hitting on 47.6 percent of its field goal tries in the first half.

The Toreros were held to a 34.5 percent clip from the floor after the break. Boise State never trailed in the second period.

The Broncos finished with a narrow, 36-35, advantage in total rebounds. Boise State will take on the tournament host Loyola Marymount on Saturday, while USD will take on Southeast Missouri State.
