Recap: Richmond vs. Northeastern

Richmond, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Northeastern Huskies erased an eight- point deficit in the final five minutes and slipped by for a 58-57 victory over the Richmond Spiders in non-conference play at the Robins Center.

Northeastern (8-4) found itself behind by a score of 55-47 down the stretch but used an 8-0 run to tie the score and go ahead by three on a 3-pointer by TJ Williams, giving the squad just enough breathing room to hold on for the one-point road victory.

Williams scored a game-high 20 points, converting all but one of his six 3- point attempts, while adding six rebounds and six assists for the Huskies. Quincy Ford pitched in with 12 points and seven boards as they continued the trend of alternating wins and losses for the last nine games.

Richmond (7-6), which has lost two straight, was led by Kendall Anthony with 18 points, followed by Terry Allen and Trey Davis with 14 and 10 points, respectively.

The Spiders opened the meeting on a 10-2 run, shooting 51.7 percent from the floor, as they moved out to a 35-23 advantage at the break. Northeastern knocked down only nine field goals and was 2-of-9 behind the 3-point line through the first 20 minutes.

In the second half the roles were reversed as Richmond, which led by as many as 13 points just four minutes into the period, converted only 33.3 percent from the floor, compared to 53.8 percent for the visitors as they fought back and captured the win.

The hosts turned the ball over only four times on the day, but also shot just 5-of-21 on the perimeter and lost the battle of the boards, 34-26.
