Orlando, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - E.C. Matthews scored 19 points to lead the Rhode Island Rams to a 66-44 victory over the Santa Clara Broncos in consolation round action of the Orlando Classic at HP Fieldhouse.

Matthews drilled 5-of-7 shots from 3-point range and Jared Terrell chipped in 13 points for Rhode Island (4-1).

Brandon Clark recorded 14 points and Matt Hubbard chipped in 10 for Santa Clara (2-4).

Both teams shot well in the first half, with the Rams turning in a 59.1 percent effort from the floor, while the Broncos shot 57.1 percent. The Rams also had a 5-0 scoring edge from the free-throw line, which helped them to a 35-27 halftime lead.

The Broncos were ice cold in the final 20 minutes, with just four field goals. Butler had four 3-pointers in the final period alone, part of a 48 percent shooting performance.

Rhode Island scored 24 points off of 13 Santa Clara turnovers. The Rams also doubled the Broncos up in points in the paint (32-16).
