Kingston, RI (SportsNetwork.com) - Jared Terrell led the way with 17 points and six steals as the Rhode Island Rams edged the George Washington Colonials, 59-55, in an Atlantic 10 showdown at the Ryan Center.

For the Rams (14-5, 6-2 A-10), Hassan Martin posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while E.C. Matthews chipped in with 10 points.

Kevin Larsen led the Colonials (16-5, 6-2) with 15 points, while Kethan Savage and Patricio Garino each finished with 10 points.

The Rams led going into halftime, 28-19, despite shooting just 39.3 percent from the field, which included missing all but one of their nine tries from beyond the arc. They were helped by the even worse shooting performance of the Colonials, who managed to make a mere 30.4 percent of their field goal tries, including 1-of-6 from 3-point range.

George Washington found its stroke after intermission, connecting on 53.8 percent of its field goal tries, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range. Rhode Island continued to struggle from the field in the second half, shooting 34.8 percent and missing all five of its attempts from beyond the arc. But the Rams did connect on 15-of-17 from the free-throw line. Trailing 38-29, the Colonials went on a 10-0 run to take 39-38 lead midway through the half. George Washington still led 50-47 with under five minutes to play, but Rhode Island scored eight straight points to go back up for good, as the Rams held on down the stretch for their fourth straight victory.

The Rams forced 21 turnovers and converted them into 22 points. Rhode Island also took advantage of its time at the charity stripe, making 20-of-22 free throws while George Washington was just 9-of-17 from the line. The hosts were a woeful 1-of-14 from beyond the arc in the contest.
