West Lafayette, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Vince Edwards and Rapheal Davis netted 13 points each as the Purdue Boilermakers coasted to an 80-40 season- opening victory over the Samford Bulldogs at Mackey Arena.

Isaac Haas chipped in with 11 points and eight rebounds off the bench for Purdue, which also received eight boards courtesy of Edwards. Kendall Stephens added 10 points, while 11 total Boilermakers made a contribution in the scoring column.

Christen Cunningham led Samford (0-1) with 10 points.

Purdue knocked down 66.7 percent of its field goal attempts, including a 7- of-13 clip from 3-point range in the opening period en route to a 43-16 halftime lead. The Bulldogs were limited to 20 percent efficiency from the floor in the first half.

Samford continued to struggle after the break, as it hit on only 25 percent of its shots from the field over the final 20 minutes of the contest. The Boilermakers converted 15-of-23 tries at the free-throw line in the second stanza to extend their lead.

Purdue finished with a 45-34 edge in the rebounding battle and assisted 21 of its 26 makes from the floor.
