Princeton, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Spencer Weisz scored a game-high 18 points, as the Princeton Tigers held on to defeat the Rider Broncs, 64-58, in each team's season opener at Jadwin Gym.

Weisz shot 5-of-10 from the field and 7-of-9 from the foul line for Princeton (1-0) while also grabbing six rebounds. Hans Brase tallied 12 points and eight boards in the winning effort.

For Rider (0-1), Teddy Okereafor was the only player in double figures with 16 points.

Princeton held a 28-25 lead at halftime after outshooting Rider from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, 42.1 percent to 35.7 percent.

The Broncos got hot early in the second half, using a 14-2 run to take a nine- point lead with 14:34 to play. The Tigers trailed by two with under six minutes left before ripping off six straight points to take a lead they would never surrender.

Princeton was excellent at the foul line, draining 17-of-20, while Rider was only 2-of-4 at the stripe.
