Las Vegas, NV (SportsNetwork.com) - Jacob Parker scored 16 points, shooting 6- of-7 from the field, as the Lumberjacks of Stephen F. Austin defeated the Panthers of Prairie View, 73-61, as part of the Las Vegas Invitational at Orleans Arena.

Also scoring in double figures for the Lumberjacks (2-3) was Thomas Walkup who tallied 10 points on just 2-of-8 shooting from the floor.

The Panthers (0-6) were paced by John Brisco who dropped in a game-high 24 points, followed by Tre Hagood who had 15 points and seven rebounds, but also suffered nine turnovers. Off the bench, Jayrn Johnson accounted for 10 points before fouling out.

Prairie View led by a basket early in the first half, but the team ended up making a total of only seven field goals in the period, en route to a 33-28 deficit at the break.

After shooting only 33.3 percent from the floor in the first half, SFA responded with 52.2 percent accuracy and also knocked down 13-of-17 at the free-throw line in the period in order to pull away for the 12-point win.

The Panthers shot only 4-of-13 beyond the arc and turned the ball over 22 times on the night.

Both teams will be back in action on Friday in the championship round of the tournament, with the Lumberjacks taking on Austin Peay and the Panthers clashing with Brown.
