Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jamel Artis netted 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds as the Pittsburgh Panthers outlasted the Manhattan Jaspers, 65-56, in a non-conference affair at Petersen Events Center.

Artis also dished out five assists and made 10-of-12 from the free-throw line for Pittsburgh (7-3). Michael Young chipped in with 16 points and eight boards, and Cameron Wright scored 14 points in the win, which was the third in a row for the Panthers.

Emmy Andujar tallied 19 points, but turned the ball over five times for Manhattan (2-7), which has lost two in a row. Ashton Pankey notched a double- double of 12 points and 10 rebounds in the defeat.

Pittsburgh connected on 40 percent of its field goals in the first half, and made 5-of-9 from the charity stripe to take a 26-21 lead at the intermission. Manhattan shot 50 percent from the floor, but could only manage 1-of-5 from the foul line.

The Panthers caught fire in the second frame, netting 65 percent of their shots with a 12-of-16 mark from the free-throw line. The Jaspers dipped to 46.2 percent shooting, and went 2-of-9 from 3-point range as Pittsburgh pulled ahead.

The Panthers held a decisive 23-8 advantage in points off turnovers after they forced 20 Manhattan giveaways. Pitt also owned a 17-10 edge at the free-throw line.
