Recap: Pittsburgh vs. Duquesne

Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - James Robinson scored a game-high 23 points, leading four players in double figures, as the Pittsburgh Panthers defeated the Duquesne Dukes, 76-62, in a non-conference battle at CONSOL Energy Center.

Robinson, who shot 6-of-14 from the floor, added five rebounds, five assists and three steals to the Pittsburgh (5-3) attack. Josh Newkirk contributed 16 points and five assists off the bench, followed by Chris Jones and Joseph Uchebo with 12 points apiece, the latter clearing nine rebounds off the bench as well. Coming up a point shy of a double-double was Jamel Artis with a game- high 10 rebounds.

The Dukes (3-2) were led by Jordan Stevens and Tysean Powell with 15 points each, followed by Derrick Colter with 13 as he knocked down all three of his 3-point attempts on the night.

Duquesne took a very early lead in the first half, but in making only nine field goals in the frame, shooting a dismal 2-of-11 beyond the arc, the squad was left with a 39-27 deficit at the break.

In the second half the Dukes picked up the slack with 43.3 percent accuracy from the field and 5-of-11 on the perimeter, but the Panthers maintained their distance in picking up the double-digit victory.

Pittsburgh won the battle of the boards, 45-37, and also outscored the Dukes at the free-throw line, 20-11, although the Panthers were just 62.5 percent accurate at the charity stripe.
