Malibu, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Stacy Davis scored 22 points, leading all five starters in double figures, as the Pepperdine Waves crushed the Fresno State Bulldogs, 89-74, in the season opener for both programs at Firestone Fieldhouse.

Davis, who converted all eight of his chances at the free-throw line, also cleared nine rebounds for the Waves (1-0) in the triumph. Jeremy Major accounted for 21 points and seven rebounds, Amadi Udenyi and Shawn Olden 13 points apiece and Jett Raines 10 points and eight boards for the hosts.

The Bulldogs (0-1) were paced by Marvelle Harris with a game-high 25 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the field, adding six assists, five rebounds and four steals in an effort to offset six turnovers. Off the bench, Julien Lewis produced 19 points, but missed on all five of his 3-point tries.

Fresno State led by two early on in the contest, but the defense for the Bulldogs allowed Pepperdine to knock down 58.6 percent from the floor in the first half, en route to a 41-35 margin at the break.

In the second half, while FSU was missing on all eight chances on the perimeter, the Waves were hitting 54.5 percent from the field and 23-of-27 at the charity stripe in order to secure the comfortable win.
