University Park, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kendall Stephens knocked down six 3- pointers and led Purdue with 22 points, as the Boilermakers outlasted Penn State in overtime, 84-77, in Big Ten Conference action at the Bryce Jordan Center.

A.J. Hammons recorded a double-double off the bench for the Boilermakers (11-7, 3-2 Big Ten) with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Jon Octeus tallied 13 points, seven assists and four steals, while Vince Edwards added 11 points in the win.

The Nittany Lions (12-6, 0-5) suffered their fifth straight loss and remain winless in league play after a 12-1 start. They received a game-high 37 points from D.J. Newbill, although he was the team's only player in double figures.

Penn State had the hot hand in the first half, as the Nittany Lions shot a blistering 60 percent from the floor and led, 34-25 at the break.

But the Boilermakers swung the momentum in their favor in the second half by draining 9-of-15 attempts from 3-point range, after they shot just 1-of-10 from the perimeter in the opening frame. Stephens buried a three with five seconds remaining in regulation to tie the score at 67-67 and send the game to overtime.

Purdue's largest lead came in the extra session as the Boilermakers surged ahead, 80-71, on a dunk by Edwards with 38 seconds to play.

The game featured 11 ties and 11 lead changes, but the Nittany Lions simply went cold in overtime, shooting just 3-of-10 from the floor.
