Corvallis, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Langston Morris-Walker registered a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 10 rebounds as the Oregon State Beavers posted a 67-54 win over the Rice Owls in the season opener for both programs.

Also scoring in double figures for the Beavers (1-0) in the debut of new head coach Wayne Tinkle were Malcolm Duvivier and Jarmal Reid with 17 points apiece.

The Owls (0-1), who are now led by Mike Rhoades, a former assistant under VCU head coach Shaka Smart, had only two players score in double figures as Seth Gearhart delivered 14 points on 4-of-11 shooting from the floor before fouling out and Bishop Mency with 11 points off the bench.

Oregon State scored the first points of the night and never looked back, shooting an even 50 percent from the floor, but just 3-of-9 behind the 3-point line en route to a 32-22 advantage at the break.

In the second half OSU dipped to 38.5 percent accuracy from the field, but as was the case in the first half Rice made good on just 8-of-26 from the floor, allowing the Beavers to secure the comfortable double-digit win.

In addition to shooting just 8-of-29 behind the 3-point line on the night, Rice was also beaten on the boards by a 44-27 margin.
