Corvallis, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Gary Payton II logged 13 points and eight rebounds as the Oregon State Beavers bested the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 59-49, in non-conference play at Gill Coliseum.

Jarmal Reid also knocked down 13 points for the Beavers (6-2), who have won three straight. Langston Morris-Walker added 10 points.

Fred Thomas notched 16 points and nine rebounds for the Bulldogs (5-3), who have lost three in a row.

Both teams struggled to get going in the opening half, with the Bulldogs shooting 36 percent from the field and the Beavers just 34.5 percent. The home team hit 8-of-11 at the free-throw line and held a 30-23 lead at halftime.

The visitors dipped to just 33.3 percent from the floor in the second half, while their opponent improved to a 40 percent mark. The Beavers led by as many as 16 points midway through the latter half.

The Bulldogs turned the ball over 17 times in the contest and were outscored in points off turnovers, 23-14.
