Recap: Oregon vs. USC
Eugene, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Joseph Young scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds as his Oregon Ducks outlasted the USC Trojans, 75-67, in a Pac-12 Conference showdown at Matthew Knight Arena.
Elgin Cook contributed 15 points and five boards for Oregon (13-6, 3-3 Pac-12), which ended a two-game losing slide. Dillon Brooks chipped in with 12 points, and Jalil Abdul-Bassit came off the bench to add 11. Jordan Bell pulled down a team-best 13 rebounds in the win.
Julian Jacobs and Katin Reinhardt each scored 16 points to lead USC (9-9, 1-5). Jordan McLaughlin collected 14 points, and Nikola Jovanovic tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards. The loss was the third in a row for the Trojans.
Oregon connected on 45.5 percent of its shots in the first half, including 7- of-18 from 3-point range, to take a 44-31 lead into the intermission. USC shot just 33.3 percent from the field in the period.
The Ducks allowed the Trojans to make a bit of a run in the second half, as home squad shot just 24 percent from the floor, which included a 1-of-7 mark from beyond the arc. USC managed a 41.2 shooting percentage, but couldn't make up too much ground after Oregon buried 18-of-23 from the free-throw line.
The Ducks outscored the Trojans from the charity stripe, 25-11, and held the advantage on the glass in the win, 45-37. USC outscored Oregon in the paint, 30-20.
