Oregon Ducks VS. UC Santa Barbara Gauchos

UC Santa Barbara (5-5) at Oregon (8-3)

GAME NOTES: The Oregon Ducks and UC Santa Barbara Gauchos get together at Matthew Knight Arena on Monday for a non-conference tilt.

Oregon won its third straight game on Saturday, besting Delaware State at home, 83-70. The team's offensive exploits were on full display, hitting 47 percent from the field and 10 3-pointers. Joseph Young nailed five of them en route to a game-high 23-points.

Jalil Abdul-Bassit donated 12 points and Elgin Cook posted a double-double consisting of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Ducks raced out to a 38-27 halftime lead, extended it to 20 early in the second half and cruised the rest of the way to improve to 7-1 at home and 8-3 overall.

Young is nearly averaging 20 points per game (19.9), and he leads the team with 49 assists and 12 steals. Dillon Brooks is another sharpshooter that is averaging 14.6 ppg for a club that scores over 80 points with regularity. Cook (11.0) rounds out the double-digit scorers, while Jordan Bell has proven to be a solid rim protector with 36 blocks.

UCSB pulled back to .500 on the season with a 69-46 dismantling of San Diego Christian on Friday. The Gauchos held their overmatched opponent to 28.8 percent shooting and outrebounded them, 46-30. They also assisted on 22 of their 29 field goals.

Alan Williams once again filled the stat sheet with 15 points, nine rebounds and four assists, while Michael Bryson netted 12 points in the rout. Gabe Vincent and John Green both added 10 points.

Williams appears poised for another Big West Player of the Year award as he is averaging 19.0 points, 12.1 rebounds and 3.3 blocked shots per game. The senior has already pulled down the most rebounds in school history, and his 935 career boards rank first among all D-I players.

Bryson (13.4 ppg), Vincent (11.3 ppg) and Green (10.4 ppg) complement Williams nicely at the offensive end, and the defense has held four of its 10 opponents under 50 points.

UCSB has won three of the four all-time meetings, but this is just the second time in the last 25 years that the two teams are squaring off. Considering the Gauchos are winless in all three of their true road games this season, and how well the Ducks play at home, this one should be a no-brainer.

Predicted Outcome

Oregon 75, UC Santa Barbara 60
