Recap: Oregon vs. CS-Northridge
Eugene, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Joseph Young netted 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds as the Oregon Ducks topped the Cal State-Northridge Matadors, 79-56, in a non-conference bout at Matthew Knight Arena.
Michael Chandler came off the bench to score 13 points for Oregon (7-3), which has won two in a row. Dillon Brooks chipped in with 12 points and six boards in the win.
Stephan Hicks scored 19 points and grabbed seven boards to pace Northridge (3-8), which has lost six of its last seven. Stephen Maxwell tallied a double- double in the loss, netting 12 points with 11 rebounds.
Oregon took a 39-30 halftime lead over Northridge thanks to 50 percent shooting from the field, including 7-of-14 from 3-point range. Northridge connected on 42.9 percent of its shots in the period, but missed all three attempts from beyond the arc.
The Ducks dipped to 38.9 percent shooting in the second half, but made 10- of-14 from the free-throw line. The Matadors made only 25 percent of their field goals in the frame en route to the double-digit loss.
Oregon held advantages in bench scoring (31-10), rebounding (43-36), second- chance points (17-8), and outscored the Matadors from 3-point distance, 27-3.
