St. Thomas, VI (SportsNetwork.com) - Trey Freeman poured in a game-high 22 points, as the Old Dominion Monarchs defeated the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs, 58-46, in the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam at the Sports and Fitness Center.

Freeman shot 9-of-17 from the field for ODU (4-1), while Richard Ross added 12 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.

For Gardner-Webb (2-3), Jerome Hill notched a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds and Adonis Burbage netted 10 points on 3-of-6 from 3-point range.

ODU shot just 40.7 percent from the field in the first half, but Gardner-Webb was even worse at 33.3 percent, as the Monarchs carried a 28-26 lead into intermission.

The Monarchs held just a four-point lead with under three minutes remaining but finished the game on a 10-2 run to capture the title.

ODU scored 16 points off of 13 Gardner-Webb turnovers while committing just seven miscues itself.
