Stillwater, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - Phil Forte led all scorers with 20 points, and the Oklahoma State Cowboys opened their Big 12 Conference schedule with a 61-47 win over Kansas State at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Le'Bryan Nash added 11 points to go along with six rebounds and four blocks for the Cowboys (11-2, 1-0 Big 12), winners of four of their last five games. Jeff Newberry and Anthony Hickey each scored 10 points and combined for six steals in the win.

Thomas Gipson led the Wildcats (7-7, 0-1) with 14 points, followed by Justin Edwards with 11.

The first half featured seven ties and six lead changes, and it was Kansas State that took a surprising 29-27 lead into the break.

But OSU began the second half with a huge 27-8 run and led by as many as 17 on a 3-pointer by Newberry at the 11:16 mark. The Cowboys, who scored 15 straight points during that spurt, went on to shoot 52.4 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes.

K-State shot just 29.2 percent after halftime as it dropped to 0-3 in true road games this season.
