Niceville, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Reserve Kris Yanku scored 18 points as the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks defeated the Southern Jaguars in overtime, 70-63, in the Emerald Coast Classic at The Arena.

Ako Kaluna contributed 17 points and nine rebounds for Northern Arizona (2-4). Quinton Upshur was the third Lumberjack in double figures, as he scored 13.

Trelun Banks contributed 14 points for the Jaguars (1-5). Reserve Tre Lynch added 13 points.

The Lumberjacks held a narrow 30-28 lead after the opening 20 minutes. Northern Arizona was respectable in its shooting performance, converting 11- of-24 field goal tries in the first half. Southern only made 37.5 percent of its first half field goal attempts, but an 8-of-9 effort from the free-throw line kept it close.

Southern was able to shoot better in the second half, hitting 48 percent of its field goal tries. The Jaguars also limited their turnovers as had four in the second half after recording nine in the first. With seven seconds remaining in regulation, Lynch made a layup to tie the game at 59-59 and force overtime.

The Lumberjacks defense held the Jaguars to just four points in the overtime period and Northern Arizona pulled away with a 9-0 run to start the extra session/

Southern's 3-point shooting was terrible, as it made 3-of-21 attempts from beyond the arc. Northern Arizona was slightly better (6-of-18).
