NORTHEASTERN HUSKIES

Northeastern Huskies

Northeastern Huskies VS. Richmond Spiders

Richmond (9-4) at Northeastern (3-9)

GAME NOTES: The Northeastern Huskies will look to get their season back on track as they host the Richmond Spiders at Matthews Arena in a non-conference battle.

Northeastern has lost seven of its last eight games leading to a 3-9 overall record. The Huskies won on Dec. 21 in the Westin Holiday Classic in New Orleans against Milwaukee, 62-59, but lost the next day to Tulane, 65-62. This will be Northeastern's first game coming back from the holiday break.

Richmond has won six of its last eight contests and is 9-4 on the young season. A one-point overtime loss to Ohio ruined a potential three-game win streak for the Spiders, who are coming off a 67-58 victory over in-state rival Old Dominion on Saturday.

This will be the first-ever meeting between the Spiders from the Atlantic 10 Conference and the Huskies of the Colonial Athletic Association.

Against Old Dominion at the Robins Center, senior Cedrick Lindsay scored all of his team-high 19 points in the second half en route to the Spiders' win. Lindsay added seven assists and three rebounds to go with his 19 points. Alonzo Nelson-Ododa recorded his first career double-double in the contest, scoring 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting and pulled down 10 rebounds. Junior Kendall Anthony scored 17 points - 10 of which came in the first half. Richmond trailed 25-24 at halftime, but used a 9-0 run early in the second half to take the lead, one which the Spiders would not surrender.

Lindsay leads the Spiders this season in scoring with 18.7 ppg. He's also by far the leading assist man with 58 total this season. The next closest assist total on the team is 19. Anthony is the only other player on Richmond's roster averaging in double figures, with 12.8 ppg. Anthony has scored in double figures in five consecutive games. Nelson-Ododa leads the Spiders in rebounds (6.2 rpg) and blocks (29).

Despite 18 points from David Walker against Tulane, Northeastern fell to the Green Wave in the Westin Holiday Classic. Walker tied his career high in 3- pointers made with four in the close loss. Zach Stahl added 19 points in the game and grabbed six rebounds. Free-throw shooting plagued the team, as Northeastern went 15-of-30 from the charity stripe in the loss. The game itself featured 12 lead changes and seven ties, and the Huskies had a chance to win the game in the closing seconds. With possession and down by one point with 33 seconds to play, Northeastern was whistled for a five-second call on the inbounds pass. Tulane gained possession and Jonathan Stark hit both free throws for the three-point lead.

Walker is second on the team this season in scoring, averaging 12 ppg and leading the team in assists with 37. Scott Eatherton is Northeastern's leader in the frontcourt, averaging a double-double with 17.0 ppg and 10.1 rpg. Eatherton ranks 15th in the country in rebounding. Junior Quincy Ford, an instrumental part of the Huskies roster, has only played in two games this season, and will miss the remainder of the year after undergoing back surgery.

Despite two overtime losses in the team's past seven games, Richmond has been playing exceptionally well. Northeastern has struggled, and will continue to do so without much offensive firepower outside of Eatherton.
