Denton, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Chip Armelin scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Southern Miss Golden Eagles defeated the North Texas Mean Green in overtime, 75-71, in a Conference USA battle at the Super Pit.

Norville Carey added 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Golden Eagles (6-12, 1-6 C-USA). Matt Bingaya contributed 12 points and nine rebounds as Southern Miss snapped a nine-game losing streak.

As for the Mean Green (8-11, 2-5), Jordan Williams scored 19 points and Jeremy Combs added 17 and nine rebounds. Maurice Aniefiok chipped in with 16 points.

The Golden Eagles shot 40.7 percent from the field and connected on 4-of-11 shots from beyond the arc in the first half. The Mean Green shot 60.0 percent from the field and hit 5-of-9 shots from 3-point range as North Texas took a 37-29 lead at the break.

The Golden Eagles scored 10 points on second-chance opportunities in the second half made it into overtime after Carey nailed a 3-pointer with four seconds left in regulation.

In extra session, Armelin scored nine points for Southern Miss, which used an 8-0 run to put the game away.

Southern Miss outscored UNT by 12 in the paint and outrebounded the Mean Green, 42-35.
