Denton, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan Williams tallied 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting to lead his North Texas Mean Green to a 75-65 Conference USA victory over the Rice Owls at The Super Pit.

Maurice Aniefiok added in 15 points for North Texas (9-11, 3-5 C-USA), which has won two of its last three contests. Jeremy Combs chipped in with 13 points and seven rebounds, and T.J. Taylor contributed 11 points with five boards. Armani Flannigan came off the bench to collect 10 points in the win.

Seth Gearhart led all scorers in the contest with 20 points for Rice (6-14, 3-5), adding in five rebounds. Marcus Jackson chipped in with 18 points, and Bishop Mency netted 12, hitting a perfect 4-of-4 from 3-point range. The Owls have dropped three decisions in a row.

Rice connected on a healthy 64 percent of its first-half field goal attempts, and made a whopping 12-of-19 from 3-point distance to take a 45-37 lead into the intermission. North Texas stayed within 10 points thanks to 50 percent shooting in the period.

The Owls came out completely flat in the second half, though, hitting just 20.8 percent of their attempts from the field (5-of-24). The Mean Green improved to 64 percent shooting in the frame to blow past the visitors for the 10-point victory.

North Texas held a distinct advantage in scoring in the paint, 36-12, and owned a 20-15 edge in points off turnovers. The Owls outscored the Mean Green from beyond the arc, 45-15, in the loss.
