Recap: New Mexico vs. USC
Albuquerque, NM (SportsNetwork.com) - Nikola Jovanovic scored 10 points and pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds as the USC Trojans topped the New Mexico Lobos, 66-54, in non-conference action in The Pit.
Also registering a double-double for the Trojans (4-3) was Darion Clark with 12 points and 11 boards, while Elijah Stewart and Julian Jacobs tallied 11 and 10 points, respectively, for a squad that has won two straight and three of the last four.
The Lobos (3-3) were paced by Devon Williams who posted 15 points and 10 boards, followed by Obij Aget with a double-double of his own consisting of 11 points and 10 rebounds as well. Deshawn Delaney tacked on 13 points, but shot only 3-of-10 from the floor.
New Mexico shot only 2-of-10 behind the 3-point line and made it to the free- throw line just five times, converting four chances, as it fell behind at the break by a score of 34-32. USC also had issues beyond the arc through the first 20 minutes (3-of-12) but managed to pull ahead nonetheless.
The second half saw both sides have a very hard time finding the basket, but while the Trojans connected on just 34.5 percent from the field (10-of-29), the hosts connected on a grand total of only five shots and were 1-of-14 on the perimeter in the period.
In a game that featured six ties and just as many lead changes, UNM hurt itself with a meager 3-of-24 effort on the outside.
