NEVADA WOLF PACK

Nevada Wolf Pack

Nevada Wolf Pack VS. Clemson Tigers

Clemson (1-2) vs. Nevada (2-1)

GAME NOTES: The first-ever meeting between the Clemson Tigers and Nevada Wolf Pack is on tap in Saturday's consolation round of the 2014 Paradise Jam.

Clemson, which won the season opener against Florida A&M at home, 86-41, has come up short in two straight decisions, losing the pair by a combined five points. On Friday, the Tigers were taken down by Gardner-Webb in the opening round of this tournament, 72-70.

The Wolf Pack managed to open the 2014-15 campaign with consecutive wins over Cal Poly (65-49) and Adams State (69-64), both at home, but in the Virgin Islands on Friday the team was taken down by Seton Hall, 68-60.

Both teams will be back in action on Monday in the championship round of this tournament.

Against the Runnin' Bulldogs, Clemson led by as many as 13 points with just over eight minutes remaining in the second half, but the team could not hold on and ended up on the wrong side of a two-point decision. Demarcus Harrison scored a game-high 19 points for the Tigers, followed by Rod Hall and Landry Nnoko with 16 and 11 points, respectively. Jaron Blossomgame, who dropped in eight points, registered a game-high 10 rebounds in the setback as well.

Nnoko leads the team in scoring with 15.0 ppg, while Blossomgame accounts for 8.0 rpg to lead in that department and Hall checks in with 4.7 apg in an effort to get his teammates involved in the action as the program generates 76.7 ppg, but shoots only 27.5 percent behind the 3-point line.

Nevada fell behind against the Pirates right out of the gate and never recovered, converting a mere eight field goals in the first half, en route to the eight-point setback. Except for Kaleb Rodriguez who finished with just six points due to dealing with foul trouble, every starter for the Pack scored in double figures, led by Michael Perez with 12 points. Marqueze Coleman tallied 11 points, followed by AJ West and D.J. Fenner with 10 points apiece as the team shot just 37.5 percent from the floor.

Fenner may be shooting only 28.6 percent from beyond the arc and 8-of-14 (.571) at the free-throw line, but he is still the leading scorer for Nevada with 13.3 ppg. Perez pitches in with 11.3 ppg and both Coleman and West check in with 11.0 ppg. Fenner is showing quite a bit of growth now that he is a starter, improving greatly on his career scoring average of only 3.5 ppg.

Nevada's first two wins of the season were unimpressive, so it only makes sense that against better competitive the team would fold. The assumption here is that the Tigers are also better competition, which should result in a Clemson win on Saturday.
