Recap: Murray State vs. Austin Peay
Murray, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Dexter Fields paced six players in double figures with 20 points, as the Murray State Racers made easy work of the Austin Peay Governors, 89-67, in Ohio Valley Conference action at the CFSB Center.
Fields shot 8-of-12 from the field, including 4-of-5 from 3-point range for Murray State (9-7, 4-0 OVC), which has won four straight. Cameron Payne tallied 15 points and eight assists, Jarvis Williams had 14 points, Tyler Rambo netted 13 and T.J. Sapp and Zay Henderson scored 11 apiece. Jonathan Fairell also contributed to the balanced effort with 10 rebounds.
For APSU (8-9, 2-1), which snapped a three-game winning streak, Travis Betran and Will Triggs put up 17 points apiece, while Zavion Williams was also solid with 16 points and seven assists.
Murray State outshot APSU from the field in the first half, 46.7 percent to 35.3 percent, as it carried a comfortable 43-31 lead into the break.
The Racers improved the 48.5 percent from the floor in the second stanza and they led by at least nine points throughout.
Murray State outscored the Governors at the foul line, 21-7.
