Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Andre Hollins poured in a season-high 31 points, and the Minnesota Golden Gophers outlasted Rutgers, 89-80, in a Big Ten Conference tilt at Williams Arena.

Hollins did most of his damage from beyond the arc, connecting on 7-of-10 attempts. Maurice Walker tallied 16 points, nine rebounds and four steals, while Carlos Morris scored 12 points to help the Golden Gophers (12-7, 1-5 Big Ten) lock up their first conference victory.

The Scarlet Knights (10-9, 2-4) have now dropped two straight since beating 4th-ranked Wisconsin, despite a season-high 26 points and eight assists from Myles Mack. Kadeem Jack and Bishop Daniels added 19 and 13 points, respectively, while Junior Etou grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with his nine points.

Minnesota led 10-2 and 25-12 in the early going, but Rutgers answered with a 17-4 run to tie the score at 29-29. However, Minnesota would eventually take a 42-37 lead into the break as it never trailed in the contest.

Both teams shot better than 57 percent from the floor after halftime, although the Gophers surged ahead, 66-55, following back-to-back threes by Hollins with just over 10 minutes remaining. Rutgers could not draw any closer than five points the rest of the way.

For the game, Minnesota committed only eight turnovers and forced 19 for a huge 26-6 advantage in points off turnovers. This was the first meeting between these two teams since 1979.
