Minnesota Golden Gophers VS. Furman Paladins

Furman (2-7) at Minnesota (9-2)

GAME NOTES: The Minnesota Golden Gophers, winners of six in a row, welcome the Furman Paladins to Williams Arena on Monday night.

Minnesota's latest victory was a 92-57 rout of Seattle on Friday, the club's fifth straight double-digit win. It was a 22-point game at halftime, and the lead stretched to 37 at one point in the second half.

Carlos Morris led the way with 19 points, while Maurice Walker, Andre Hollins and Nate Mason all chipped in with 15 points. Walker was 6-of-6 from the field, and Minnesota shot 55.0 percent overall.

Offensive production has come rather easily for the Gophers this season, especially lately. They have eclipsed 80 points five straight times and lead the nation in assists at 20.1 apg. Hollins has a team-best 14.6 ppg average, while Morris and Walker sit at 12.5 and 11.5 ppg, respectively.

Not only is Minnesota efficient at the offensive end, but the team is also plus-seven in turnover margin. DeAndre Mathieu is ninth in the nation in assist/turnover ratio (4.0), and is among the nation's best in assists per game (6.2).

The Paladins have dropped three straight since winning their second game of the season. Their last loss came in an 83-78 setback at Florida Gulf Coast on Friday. They were within three after trailing by 12 down the stretch, but ultimately came up short.

Devin Sibley hit 6-of-10 shots from the field and 5-of-9 at the foul line to lead four Paladins in double figures with 20 points. Stephen Croone netted 18 points, while Geoff Beans and Kendrec Ferrara added 16 and 13 points, respectively.

Croone came into the FGCU game averaging a team-high 18.1 ppg, while Beans was putting up 13.4 ppg in the five games he has played. The Paladins are getting outscored by nearly 10 points per game and are allowing opponents to shoot over 48 percent from the field. They are also coughing up more than 14 turnovers per game.

Minnesota has won four of the five all-time meetings and is 3-0 at home against the Paladins, who have yet to win a road game this season in five tries. This should be another easy one for the Gophers.
