Murfreesboro, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Robert Brown scored 13 points and collected six rebounds as the UAB Blazers held off the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders, 54-49, in Conference USA play.

Also scoring in double figures for the Blazers (5-9, 1-0 C-USA), as they snapped a three-game slide, was Hakeem Baxter with 11 points, thanks to 7-of-8 shooting at the free-throw line.

The Blue Raiders (7-7, 0-1) were led by Jaqawn Raymond with 14 points and Giddy Potts with 12, the latter shooting only 3-of-11 from the floor in 20 minutes off the bench.

Middle Tennessee opened the meeting on a 5-0 run and led 16-6 just over eight minutes into the contest, but the host shot only 34.6 percent from the field in the first half, allowing UAB to claim a slim 28-25 edge at the intermission.

In the second half it all fell apart for the Blue Raiders as they connected on a woeful 5-of-26 (.192) from the field, en route to the five-point setback.

In a game that featured six ties and 11 lead changes, the Blazers survived in spite of 2-of-10 shooting behind the 3-point line and 15 turnovers.
