Oxford, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - D.J. Balentine scored a game-high 19 points as the Evansville Purple Aces downed the Miami-Ohio RedHawks, 69-50, in a non- conference clash at Millett Hall.

For the Purple Aces (2-0), Egidijus Mockevicius posted a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Blake Simmons added 12 points.

LJ Livingston paced the RedHawks (1-1) with 12 points, Geovonie McKnight finished with 11 and Eric Washington scored eight and dished out seven assists in the setback.

Evansville had a strong first half, knocking down 54.2 percent of its field goal tries and was ahead at the break, 26-20, though it did miss all three 3- point attempts in the frame. Miami had trouble finding the basket, as the RedHawks shot just 34.6 percent from the field, missing all but one of their six shots from beyond the arc.

The Purple Aces continued their hot shooting in the second, connecting on 60 percent of their shots from the floor and 3-of-5 from 3-point distance. The RedHawks improved to 44.4 percent shooting after intermission, though they made only 2-of-7 from 3-point range. After the RedHawks got to within five points early in the half, the Purple Aces went on a 17-7 run over the next seven minutes to extend their lead to 52-37 and then coasted to victory.

Evansville dominated down low, outrebounding Miami 33-24 and outscoring it in the paint, 46-34. Both teams took care of the ball, as the Purple Aces committed 11 turnovers and the RedHawks just 10 miscues.
