Recap: Miami-Florida vs. NC State
Coral Gables, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Sheldon McClellan recorded a double- double of 16 points and 10 rebounds to help the Miami-Florida Hurricanes defeated the NC State Wolfpack, 65-60, in an ACC matchup at the BankUnited Center.
Angel Rodriguez contributed 14 points and six assists for the Hurricanes (13-5, 3-2 ACC), who have now won three of their last four games. Davon Reed and Omar Sherman scored 10 points apiece, while Tonye Jekiri pulled down 10 boards.
Adbul-Malik Abu paced NC State (13-7, 4-3) with 19 points. Trevor Lacey added 10 points for the Wolfpack.
NC State took a 33-26 lead into halftime after it shot 50 percent from the floor in the opening stanza. The Hurricanes hit on 6-of-14 tries from 3-point range in the first half.
Miami took control by shooting 50 percent from the field and converting 14- of-17 tries at the free-throw line after the break. The Wolfpack were limited to 36.7 percent efficiency from the floor over the final 20 minutes of action. Rodriguez sank four free-throw tries in the final 21 seconds to put the game out of reach.
Despite the loss, NC State outscored the Hurricanes, 30-18, in the paint. Miami outscored the Wolfpack, 18-3, at the charity stripe and also, 27-15, from beyond the arc.
