Miami Hurricanes VS. Alabama Crimson Tide

Recap: Miami-Florida vs. Alabama

Coral Gables, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Manu Lecomte had 17 points and Davon Reed scored 15, as the No. 2 seed Miami Hurricanes rallied to knock off the No. 6 seed Alabama Crimson Tide, 73-66, in the second round of the National Invitation Tournament at the BankUnited Center.

The Hurricanes (22-12) will play either the fifth-seeded Arizona State Sun Devils or the top-seeded Richmond Spiders in the quarterfinals. Deandre Burnett chipped in with 13 points off the bench, while Tonye Jekiri tallied nine points and 12 rebounds.

Rodney Cooper led all scorers with 20 points for the Crimson Tide (19-14), who went cold in the second half. Levi Randolph was next in line with 17 points, followed by Retin Obasohan with 11 and Michael Kessens with 10.

Miami went on an early 12-1 run to go up 27-18, although Alabama would later put together a 16-3 spurt to take a 34-30 lead into the break.

However, the Hurricanes pulled away thanks to a 17-2 second-half run, which was sparked by consecutive 3-pointers from Burnett and another from Jekiri. Alabama shot just 4-of-25 during a brutal 15-minute stretch.

Miami advanced despite getting a season-low two points in 27 minutes from leading scorer Sheldon McClellan and despite playing without point guard Angel Rodriguez, who sat due to a nagging wrist injury.
